I love September, I love the change in temperature, I love the change of the season, but most of all I love the change of pace. I think for most it is a bit stressful, everyone is getting back into their routine, back to school, back to work, back to the grind. For us its quiet and calm and peaceful. While all the kids were headed back to public school we decided to go for a little nature walk. There are a group of homeschoolers that meet once a week for a nature walk. We joined in last winter and it has been really fun to see all the environmental changes. So on the first day of school we went to Bebo Grove.

It was a beautiful day, the water was warm (ish), the sun was shining, it was a great way to start off a new school year. The kids played in the water, throwing rocks, swimming, taking their shoes off and watching them float.

I love watching my kids, I love seeing the wheels turning as they are playing and learn, how they fail and succeed, how they try and try again. D was very excited to have found a huge hole where a tree had fallen over and the roots had come up with it. He just stared into that hole with such amazement.

He took the picture so I’m not quite sure the angle here.

All in all it was a great start to a new year, I look forward to all the learning adventures this school year has in store and I cant wait to share a few of them here.
