We have been going hard basically since we left Canada so by the time we got to Memphis a couple of the kids were getting the sniffles and were overall just tired. So we did a little more relaxing this week and a little less touring.
We had a very nice relaxing stroll along the Mississippi and a picnic lunch.
Thanks to the ASTC program we checked out the Pink Palace Museumย which was so fascinating. We took lots of pictures of the information because after about the first hour the kids start to lose interest.ย After some lunch and a little recharge we went to the huge Big Bass Pro shop, it is just crazy how big this store is.
We also took a day to just play at the park, we found this wonderful park and the kids made friends with a few kids there. I love days like this because we met a few locals and learn a little more in depth information about the place we are visiting. And this park was probably the coolest we have been to.
Brian took the morning off one morning and went to Graceland, he really enjoyed it and was able to actually go at a slower pace and take in the entire Elvis experience.
On our last day we took the kids down to Beale street, checked out some shops, listened to some blues and then had a picnic supper and watched the sunset on the Mississippi River.
Memphis was a beauty but its time to hit the road and discover the next adventure.
We were just there a couple weeks ago. We passed on Graceland but toured Sun Studios and saw the Peabody Hotel Ducks. The Bass Pro shop was on our list but we left it for a future visit..;)
Oh that’s awesome. Where are you off to next? I just couldn’t get over the $200 it would have cost for the whole family to go to Graceland, so the husband had a good solo day and really took it all in ๐ We were hoping to catch the Peabody ducks but just couldn’t swing it this time. I guess, we too, will have to save it for next time!!
We were following the Mississippi River down so did that and are in New Orleans now. In between was the Mississippi Delta, the blues crossroads, the BB KIng Museum, the Birthplace of Kermit the Frog, etc. It’s all on our blog.;)
Oh I will have to go check out your blog, we are headed for New Orleans tomorrow, maybe we will bump in to you ๐
We’re at Bayou Segnette State Park – south of town, $20/night with free laundry. Not sure what availability is over the holiday yet but we were able to make it work when we extended our stay a couple days ago.
Feel free to shoot us an email if you want to meetup!
Oh that’s where we are headed! I’ll try to touch base when we get there ๐
