We were all looking forward to arriving in Tucson and just relaxing. We had plans to just sit by the pool and veg basically for the two weeks over Christmas and New Years. We didn’t really know anything about Missouri when we drove in and were taken aback by its beauty, especially the more south we went.

Our first day we spent checking out Dewey Short Visitor Centre on Table Rock Dam, and the Shepard of the hills fish hatchery at the base of the dam. Continue reading →

We were in South Dakota for about 6 days, and they were jam packed as there was so much to see. The first day we went to go check out Mount Rushmore in the morning and The Crazy Horse Memorial in the afternoon.  Mount Rushmore was pretty phenomenal, you see it so much in movies but to actually be standing there staring up at the mountain was something else.

Devils Tower

When planning for our trip and mapping out our route, the Devils Tower had been the first big stop on our way.  So we were all so very excited. The drive up was a bit of a tease, every time we came over a hill and got closer to the tower we would look off into the distance to see if we could see it and we never could. It wasn’t until we were only a couple miles away that it came within range.  But when it did the kids went wild with excitement.
